The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) is responsible for enhancing the quality of life through the protection of waters and lands from pollution by providing responsible waste management services. The Authority operates a regional wastewater treatment facility in Atlantic City and an Environmental Park in Egg Harbor Township, including a landfill, transfer station, composting facility, and recycling center. ACUA also oversees the recycling program for Atlantic County and provides curbside collection services for 24 towns in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland Counties. The ACUA is an environmental leader and has been recognized nationally for its efforts to incorporate sustainability and renewable energy in its operations. ACUA will soon open the region’s first renewable natural gas (RNG) facility with partners South Jersey Gas and OPAL Fuels, which will create natural gas from decomposing trash in the landfill.
