BUSINESS ADVOCACY COMMITTEE

The Business Advocacy Committee of the Chamber is a diverse group whose
common bond is a desire to create a favorable business climate. This
group serves as the leading business advocate for Atlantic County at all
levels of government. Its strength and effectiveness resides in the
collective focus of over 1000 Chamber members. This group seeks input
from both the public and private sectors, establishes and implements the
Chamber’s legislative agenda, and prepares position statements on issues
important to business. Its work reflects the concerns and priorities of
the business community.
MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & RETENTION COMMITTEE

Membership is the life-blood of a Chamber and the Membership Development
Committee works to increase the number of Chamber members. The focus is
to identify innovative ways of increasing the membership base.
Retention Committee works to retain Chamber members by providing
superior customer service and offering valued added benefits. The
committee focuses on proactively maintaining and enhancing a
relationship with Chamber members. The committee is charged with
evaluating and promoting programs and services designed to build
customer loyalty while continuing to sustain their support for the years
to come. This group seeks input from the membership through survey
research and focus groups. These practices are performed in order to
gauge member’s thought, feelings and attitudes toward the Chamber. The
committee prides itself in positively reacting to membership needs in a
timely appropriate manner. The committee sets an annual retention goal.
Chamber national average is 85%
This committee meets monthly to develop marketing strategies, incentives
and programs for Chamber membership development. This is a great
committee to serve on if you are looking to make business contacts and
really want to help your Chamber.
MEMBERSHIP EVENTS COMMITTEE

Chamber Events create business opportunities for our members while
providing them with important information to help them run their
businesses. The Chamber’s annual calendar of events includes partnering
with the Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association to present the Best
in Business Expo, the AC Air Show, the Board Installation, the Clam
Bake, our Business Man & Business Woman Recognition Program, the Walk to
Washington Reception, the annual golf outing, and monthly Business After
Hours Programs and luncheon series to promote local restaurants while
creating networking opportunities for members.
SMALL BUSINESS SERVICES COMMITTEE
Committee V/P: Susan Schneider, Select Marketing Group, LLC
The Small Business Services Committee works to create business and
marketing opportunities for members. They look for ways to lower the
cost of doing business, as well as provide training and serve as a voice
for small businesses in Atlantic County. This group manages the
Chamber’s Buy Local Program. About 90% of all Chamber members are
considered small businesses.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Committee V/P:
The Chamber Communications Committee focuses on clear, timely
communications with members and PR for the Chamber. It is the Chamber’s
voice when dealing with internal and external publics including the
media. This group is responsible for spreading the Chamber message and
includes writing press releases and managing news opportunities. They
also manage communications to Chamber members including broadcast fax
and emails, website, newsletter and the membership directory. The
Communications Committee’s work represents the thoughts, feelings and
attitudes of the Chamber and its membership.
ATLANTIC COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
(ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE)

This group manages the affairs of the Atlantic County Community
Development Corporation which exists to find funding that is otherwise
not available to promote, encourage, and assist in the orderly
development of Atlantic County while stimulating increased coordination,
cooperation, and communication between business and government. This
group is the economic development arm of the Chamber.
TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE

The Chamber’s Transportation Committee addresses growth issues in our
marketplace and the need for transportation enhancements. This group
works to ensure adequate transportation infrastructure to: promote the
effective movement of goods and people to, from and throughout Atlantic
County, to accommodate business development, and to enhance the quality
of life for residents.
