April 2 Major Public Construction Projects Breakfast Forum

 

This event was presented by the Atlantic County Economic Development Advisory Commission and the Greater Atlantic City Chamber and was held in front of an overflow crowd at the Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point. Atlantic County will experience more than $500 million in publicly funded construction in 2009. Read more.

Attendees heard from the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, the South Jersey Transportation Authority, the Atlantic City Housing and Urban Redevelopment Agency, the South Jersey Economic Development District, The Richard Stockton College of NJ, Atlantic Cape Community College and the Atlantic County Institute of Technology about project details, timetables and costs. SJTA is the source of the largest spending, with $203 being allocated to the Atlantic City Expressway and $70 million on the AC International Airport.

SJTA also reported that the proposed Aviation Research and Technology Park, a $300-400 million project, would create between 2500 and 3000 new jobs for the region.
