On behalf of the Chamber’s Advocacy team, including Chairman

Sharon Gordon and Mike Pollock, Chamber President
Joe Kelly, Director of Business Advocacy
Rodger Gottlieb and government relations specialist
Bill Pascrell, our sincere thanks to the Chair’s Council for their continuing support. Their recognition of the importance of a more focused and more proactive advocacy effort on the part of the Chamber has enabled us to accomplish a great deal in the past eight months, and we look forward to building on those successes in the weeks and months ahead.
February 11 Chair's Council Meeting
-
The Chair’s Council met on February 11, during which we reviewed many of the advocacy efforts that have taken place over the last eight months and discussed an advocacy agenda for 2009. Major areas of focus continue to be:
- Support of casino industry
- Regulatory issues that inhibit economic development
- Cost of government
- Transportation/Housing
We are proud to report that to date we have had a 100 percent renewal rate among last year’s members of the Chair’s Council.
Given the state of the economy, this is a very strong endorsement of the work we are engaged in and a validation of our view that our advocacy efforts have never been more important to the business community than now.
The Chamber is pleased to welcome the following new members of the Chair’s Council for 2009:
- A.C. Linen Supply
- Atlantic Cape Community College
- Atlantic Medical Imaging
- Cape Bank
- New Vistas Corporation
- Ocean City Home Bank
- Schoffer Enterprises
- Volunteers of America/Delaware Valley
We currently have 31 members. Our goal for 2009 is 40 members, which will provide us with the resources we need to maintain an aggressive and effective advocacy effort.
