COAH Panel Discussion

  • The Chamber’s Nov. 24th panel discussion on the state’s recent Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) legislation drew an attentive audience of more than 100. The event featured panelists Lucy Vandenberg, the NJ Executive Director of COAH: State Senator James Whelan, Assemblyman Vince Polistina and attorney Jack Plackter of Fox Rothschild. The discussion focused on the impact of the new COAH regulations to the business community and our local municipalities, particularly with respect to the 2.5% fee imposed on most non-residential projects (click here to read more).

    Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Act

  • Assemblymen Amodeo and Polistina (District 2-Rep.) have introduced legislation (A-3598) that would revises the Neighborhood Revitalization State Tax Credit Act to extend eligibility to municipalities in which casino gaming is authorized (Atlantic City).     A-3122/Casino Employees Holding Public Office

  • The Chamber has advocated on behalf and continues to support this proposed legislation that would eliminate the ban on casino employees holding public office in Atlantic City. The Chamber believes that the process should be an open one for all elected positions in order to create the deepest pool of talent possible to draw from.

    Transportation

  • Atlantic City International Airport Carrier Expansion

    The Chamber is part of the coalition involving the South Jersey Transportation Authority, the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and each of the 11 Atlantic City casinos. The group is working to entice more carriers to initiate service in and out of Atlantic City. The Chamber believes that more carriers serving our airport is an essential component of our region’s future growth as a destination, and is strongly supportive of this effort.


  • AC Expressway Exit 17

    The Chamber participated in the November ribbon cutting for the ground breaking of the full interchange at exit 17 of the Expressway (Route 50 – Hamilton Township/Egg Harbor City). Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months.


  • Atlantic City Express Service (ACES)

    A weekend train service between Atlantic City and New York City will be launched on February 6, 2009. The luxury train service is a joint venture among Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, Caesars Atlantic City and Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City.   • Spirit Airlines Announces Atlantic City-Boston Service
