Captain Sam Young Honored by United States Navy

 

Linwood’s Sam Young, United States Navy Captain, was recently honored for meritorious service while serving as Chief-of-Staff and Commanding Officer of the Navy’s U. S. European Command Reserve Augment Unit. During his Change of Command ceremonies, Young received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal from Rear Admiral Frank Rennie, Deputy Director of Operations for U. S. European Command.

 

Young has had a distinguished career in the United States Navy, where he became a Naval Flight Officer in 1984. Serving in the Navy Reserve since 1991, he most recently served as Commanding Officer of Navy Reserve United States European Command in support of the Director of European Plans and Operations Center (EPOC, the standing Joint Force Headquarters for the European Theater Commander. Captain Young’s awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. 

 

Young is the President and CEO of Tilton Fitness with operations in Egg Harbor Township, Mays Landing, Stafford Township and opening soon in Galloway.

Clinical News and Updates from Shore Memorial Hospital

SOMERS POINT—Shore Memorial Hospital is a 296-bed, not-for-profit hospital in Somers Point. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania Health System in the fields of cancer, cardiac and neuroscience care. Shore Memorial is also the only CHOP (The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) Connection hospital in New Jersey. Blue Heron Pines Names Three to Management Team

 

 Galloway Township, NJ – Blue Heron Pines Golf Club has appointed Will Arabea as General Manager, Charlie Brandt as Director of Marketing and Kimberly Royster as Director of Group Sales.

Arabea most recently served as Director of Food & Beverage/Catering Sales for Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, NJ. Prior to that, Arabea held managerial positions with The Golden Inn Hotel and Resort, in Avalon, NJ, The Historical Smithville Inn in Smithville, NJ and the Rams Head Inn in Galloway, NJ.

Brandt returns to Blue Heron Pines where he previously spent five years as the club’s marketing manager. For the past two years, Brandt served as director of communications for the United Way of Atlantic County.

Royster has 15 years of experience in sales, most recently having served as Event Sales Coordinator with Harbor Pines Golf Club.

WINS PRESTIGIOUS JOHNSON & JOHNSON AWARD

Grant Supports Partnership’s Mission to Translate Research into
Evidence-Based Care and Training for Dementia Patients and their Caregivers

Fox Rehabilitation Geriatric Therapy at Home of Cherry Hill, NJ, has answered Ms. Carter’s call to action.  A physical and occupational therapy practice specializing in geriatric home care, Fox Rehabilitation is one of five national recipients of the Johnson & Johnson Award.  Through its partnership with the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI), Johnson & Johnson funded five innovative partnerships between researchers and practitioners working to implement evidence-based programs of support for family caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.   
             The grant will allow Fox Rehabilitation clinicians to be trained to assess the needs and concerns of family caregivers, in addition to the cognitive and functional capabilities of the person with dementia.  Fox Rehabilitation will be working in tandem with Laura N. Gitlin, PhD, Director of the Center for Applied Research on Aging and Health (CARAH) at Thomas Jefferson University.  Dr. Gitlin is a nationally recognized researcher and occupational therapist with 15 years of experience in dementia research. 

            The program will be piloted in March 2008 with 30 caregivers in the Philadelphia area.
