Franchise Bucks Trend and Breaks Barrier Atlantic City, NJ Amid reports about declining circulation of daily newspapers across the United States comes some good news – about fun news! One weekly publication is growing like wildfire across the country and around the world. Coffee News, the tan-colored paper that gives restaurant-goers fun news to enjoy while they’re waiting or eating, recently broke the 1000 mark in number of franchises. This means that soon, over eight million people will be reading Coffee News every week. Why the increase in popularity? Coffee News serves up weekly doses of interesting stories, trivia, quotes, a contest, and announcements of community events. “The explosive growth in the number of franchises can be attributed in part to peoples’ desires to be entertained,” according to Bill Buckley, President of Coffee News USA. “As a respite from the daily overload of serious and sad news, readers increasingly turn to Coffee News for a quick dose of smiles.” We are Mark & Cheryl Brine, the owners and publishers of this wonderful weekly publication. Coffee News was founded in 1988 by Jean Daum of Canada. After placing her lunch order, Jean resorted to reading the information on a sugar packet out of sheer boredom. It dawned on her that restaurants were missing the boat by not providing patrons with something entertaining to read for a few minutes while waiting for their food. Entrepreneur Magazine ranks Coffee News number one in its category for 2008, #68 on its Franchise 500 list, #28 on the Fastest-Growing Franchises list, and #61 for America’s Top Global Franchises.
